Marc LaVoie: It's Wellness Wednesday, brought to you by HCA Midwest Health, where they're enacting new safety protocols and response to concerns about Coronavirus. HCA facilities are limiting the number of entrances, and they're screening all patients and visitors who enter. Dr. Rachel Hailey is a family practice physician with HCA Midwest Health. Dr. Rachel Hailey: Midwest will be screening guests with a list of questions based upon symptoms of common viruses such as fever, cough, or shortness of breath. Marc LaVoie: Dr. Hailey says you can limit the spread of the virus the same way you do with the flu. Dr. Rachel Hailey: Covering your cough or sneeze with your arm or elbow, not your hand. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth. Avoiding close contacts with people who are sick, staying home when you are sick Marc LaVoie: And keep your hands clean. Dr. Rachel Hailey: Practicing good hand hygiene and washing your hands often using either soap and water or alcohol-based hand gel and cleaning and disinfecting regularly touched objects and surfaces. Marc LaVoie: HCA Midwest Health is dedicated to improving healthcare and the greater Kansas City and outlying areas. I'm Marc LaVoie.
